Hemangi was born in 1969 and graduated from Sir JJ School of Arts in the year 1990. She is versatile, a keen observer of life and has worked in many areas including art workshops with young children in her hometown Mumbai and as Art Counselor in the United States of America with physically challenged children. Her mainstay and mantra is to share moments of happiness with each being and she delights in bringing that missing cheer. She has also worked as a potter in private studios and most of her work has been picked up by art collectors. She has exhibited her paintings at prestigious galleries over the years and has also curated shows by other artists. Her ingenuity and sense of belonging is singularly responsible to bring small works by contemporary artists from all over the country under one roof in a single show. Her motivation to paint comes from traveling, mostly in her own country and meeting diverse cross cultural and ethnic communities. The insights from these exchanges then transforms into a web of images and faces. Her faces are tranquil and spirited beings which adorns love, light and peace in order to become one with the self.
