Born in 1939 in Calcutta, Sunil Das studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Calcutta. In 1960, he won a French Government Scholarship to the Ecole National des Beaux Arts. He has over fifty solo shows and has participated in several exhibitions in India and abroad. His work has been included in the Biennales of Paris, Dacca and Tokyo. He has served as commissioner to the ‘Sao Paulo Biennale’, and was a member of the jury of the 'Pfix des Etrangeres', Paris.
