Born in 1922 in Madhya Pradesh, Raza now lives & works in Paris. He has studied at Nagpur & later at the J.J.School of arts in Mumbai. He was a founding member of the Progressive Artists Group in 1948 along with Husain, Souza, and Ara & Bakre.

Apart from several significant one man shows, he also features in several important private collections as well as the permanent collections of The National Gallery of modern art, New Delhi; the Musee National d'art Moderne, Paris & the Asia Society, New York. His genius is represented in each of his works which are sought after by collectors world wide.
